Chapter 3

Hm. Well, I guess there’s no choice then. There’s no need to even talk it over, either—I’ll play Romeo, and Buchou will play Juliet.
And if Tomoya improves as an actor, we’ll have enough manpower for me to branch out into other roles.
I’m looking forward to seeing your growth… Tomoya.
Oh uh, of course! I’ll give it all I’ve got!
Hey, Buchou. I know you said there weren’t any easy roles, but I also kinda wanted to try my hand at a minor role… please.
I’d like to get used to the stage, even if just a little bit.
Hmm, that will certainly be necessary for the sake of our club’s future.
However, a role requires a certain level of compatibility. I don’t have much interest in you, though, so I don’t actually know your background or achievements…
So how about you try out some different roles, and I’ll choose the one that’s best for you.

You don’t?! Even though you stick your nose in my business so much it pisses me off?!
Calm down… I’m sure he’s just saying that as an actor, you’re insignificant and uninteresting.
It took me a long time to be taken seriously as an actor last year, too.
Buchou calls me a ham actor, but he says you’re pretty average.
That’s not necessarily a plus, but I don’t think it’s necessarily a minus, either.
So at the very least, he’s got higher expectations for you than he did for me last year. So chin up, and keep working hard with that in mind.
Hokuto-senpai… I don’t think what you’re saying makes a lot of sense, but I’m happy you’re thinking about me ♪
Yes, well, let’s stop the tomfoolery here.
We don’t have much time, so I’d like to continue on. First, I’ll have you each give Romeo and Juliet a go.
From there, I’ll see if you’re suitable for either role, and we’ll come up with the new cast that way.
As we were talking, I took some good scenes from the script and copied them down onto enough slips of paper for each of us…
So take a look at it and commit it to memory; We’ll perform it improve-style. You have five minutes.

F–five minutes? Umm, uh, but how am I supposed to remember all this…?
Good luck. I don’t have a problem with this, since I’m good at rote memorization.
It isn’t simply a matter of reading the lines, Hokuto-kun. You must think of the play itself, how it will unfold…!
Fufufu, it is starting to feel as though we’re actually a drama club, doesn’t it? ♪

Comin’ in~
Ooh, looks like something fun’s going on in here~ ♪
Nii~chan! What’s up? We aren’t doing anything for Ra*bits today… right?
Nah, I’m here for something else. It’s time for the drama club’s to start getting ready for its next performance, right? I’m on the broadcasting committee, so I’m supposed to take care of publicity and whatnot.
So I just came to see how things were going.
I know the performance is different from our standard-fare Dream Fes since the theater course is involved in it, so we can’t handle it the same way.
So I figured I should start getting ready ASAP.
And like Tomo-chin said, Ra*bits has some free time right now. So I want to get as much done as I can while I’ve got the time.
Ra*bits has been on break for a pretty long time now…
I should say it’s fine though, since Hajime’s going through a rough time at home so he’s a little tied up.
Yeah… Ever since the revolution, all the units have started getting more active.
There’s a ton of competition for gigs—It feels like we keep getting shafted. Ra*bits is still pretty weak, after all.
But it’s fine, I’ll find a job for us. I’m actually working on it right now with the new kid, so just sit tight for a bit.
Got it. We got good results during DDD, but it’s not like that’ll be enough for it to be smooth sailing.
You got that right. But there is hope for the future. If we keep working hard, we’ll be rewarded for it. That’s the kinda place Yumenosaki’s become.
Oh right… Speaking of, Mitsuru-chin looked like he was getting bored, so if you ever need any help, just let him know.
I’m worried about what he’ll do if he has too much time on his hands.

Yeah, sure… I don’t feel like we have enough details finalized to know whether we need more help or not.
We can check in with the track club later though.
He’s already got “getting our unit costumes without asking” on his record, so I’ll have to keep an eye on him.
Oh, Little Bunny-san? My apologies, but just as Tomoya-kun said, we’re still in our preliminary stages.
We have decided on Romeo and Juliet as our theme, but everything outside of that is yet unknown.
Should there be any progress, however… I’ll be sure to come to class that day and inform you of it.
Sure. But you know, you should really come to class more often, or you’ll be held back… got it, Wataru-chin?
Fufufu, I do intend to graduate~ Rei would get quite irate with me: “I told ya, this ain’t some game of monkey see, monkey do!” and such.
Anywho, we’ve decided to do some acting together in order to determine the cast list…
If you’re free, Little Bunny-san, would you care to watch?
It isn’t art without an audience to appraise it, without the perspective of the general public.
Umm, yeah okay. I don’t have much work to do today, so if I’m not interrupting anything, I’ll watch. I do like theater a good bit, actually~ ♪
Ahaha. Now that you say that, I recall you used to go to the theater with Shu a lot, didn’t you?

Yep… If you watch something enough, you’ll fall in love with it~ No matter what it is.
